My challenge with this young family’s Lake Murray family room is that the room wears many hats; it functions as a playroom, a living area, and an entertaining space for lake parties and holiday gatherings. To meet these needs, I selected slip-resistant tile flooring for wet feet coming in from the lake, a quartz countertop for easy cleanup after parties, and a custom bookshelf for keeping toys at bay. We used stain-resistant fabrics throughout, which allowed for a soft, light color palette.  A cozy rug, perfect for small feet, tied the room together. Now my clients have a space sophisticated enough for an adult gathering but durable enough for everyday family living.
