shandon retro kitchen remodel
This kitchen renovation is a unique and extraordinarily fun one. The home was built in the 1920's and the kitchen had a metal all-in-one sink cabinet. The kitchen was also closed off from the breakfast room and the home. My clients main concern was how to keep the originality and integrity of the kitchen while updating and maximizing storage without minimizing square footage. There were three major requirements: 1) laminate countertops with metal edging 2) no recessed cans 3) cork floors. They wanted their kitchen updated but with a heavy influence from the 1950's. Together we selected finishes, patterns, and fixtures that reflected that style, but with an updated look. By opening the kitchen and breakfast room I was able to maximize storage and create stations: coffee/bar station, cooking station, and cleaning station.
